The removal and installation electrical engineer will be responsible for cable management and related electrical engineering responsibilities for the Advanced Photon Source Upgrade (APS-U) Project at Argonne National Laboratory’s Advanced Photon Source. The incumbent will help plan and coordinate all activities associated with the removal of the existing Advanced Photon Source (APS) storage ring cable plant and installation of a new storage ring cable plant. Some responsibilities include: Develop and maintain the APS-U cable list. Define the status of all existing cable trays and conduits, including contents, at APS affected by the removal and installation activities for the APS-U Project. Become familiar with the lock-out and tag-out (LOTO) process at APS and the various technical groups with electrical responsibilities. Utilize this familiarity and their personal experience to work with these groups to lead the effort of creating a specific electrical LOTO process for the removal and installation tasks. Manage cable manufacturing and labelling for the Upgrade, ensuring quality. Create specific plans for the removal and installation of every electrical/cable system for the upgrade. Manage/execute the created plan ensuring a high quality product upon completion. Ensure work is planned and executed according to APS-U, ANL, DOE and industrial safety standards. Contribute to the effort of securing a labor force for the removal and installation.
•Knowledge of facility cable systems.
•Electrical or Industrial Engineering experience.
•Knowledge of the latest NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E.
•Considerable experience with installation and commissioning of cable plant systems.
•Experience in the planning, tracking, and improving of work flow is a plus.
•Some knowledge of the technical systems associated with synchrotron light sources or other accelerator facilities is a plus.
RD2 Requirements: Bachelor’s and 5+ years; Master’s and 3+ years; Doctorate and 0 years, or equivalent.
RD3 Requirements: Bachelor’s and 8+ years; Master’s and 5+ years; or Doctorate and 4+ years; or equivalent.
