You will join a team of ten engineers and technicians in charge of the design, assembly, characterization, installation and maintenance of magnets and X-ray sources (so-called undulators) in the accelerator complex of the ESRF. The team has developed a large experience in the production and measurement of complex magnetic systems. The control of these devices has to be integrated in a complex architecture aiming at optimizing the operation and fitting as best as possible to the needs of the light source users. This involves a close collaboration between the team and the software groups from the accelerator and the beamlines’ units.
Your missions will be the following:
- Define specifications
- Develop, program and test the low-level control of undulators
- Procure the ID control components
- Install and commission the equipment
- Write documentation
- Maintain and update the control of existing devices
- Vocational secondary education in electronics (BTS/DUT/Techniker or equivalent…)
- at least 15 years of professional experience
- Experience in electrical engineering and Programmable Logic Controllers programming,
- Experience in maintenance would be an asset,
- Adaptability, team work capability and good communication skills with international scientific and technical staff are essential
- Ability to communicate in English (working language at the ESRF) and in French
Permanent position. Part of your work could be carried out in shifts, following ESRF regulations.
