About The Role
We now have an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong engineering design and systems support experience to take up the role of CAD / CAE Assistant Systems Manager, to contribute to the continued development of engineering design, and offering an opportunity to progress and develop your skills.
This role will provide technical support for all CAE Systems in both 2D and 3D disciplines, including ongoing systems development and upgrades.
You will support a wide range of CAD applications including PTC products including CREO, Windchill as well as AutoCAD. FEA packages and related databases.
You will work closely with the Engineering Design Staff, which is made up of Mechanical, Electrical, Project Engineers, Designers and other staff involved with CAD / CAE applications to ensure a robust and reliable user service.
The role has a broad remit which also includes:
- Maintaining and developing all necessary CAE hardware and software infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining document management systems to control the status of 2D and 3D drawings.
- Ensuring that all systems are virus free, secure and safely archived.
- Managing data transfer between sites and to and from suppliers and contractors.
- Playing a key role in training setup.
- Carrying out application evaluation and testing for future upgrades.
You should be educated to degree level in a CAE or Engineering subject, or demonstrate significant equivalent experience, with membership of a relevant Technical Body (such as BCS, IMechE, IET) desirable.
You will demonstrate experience of providing daily support in a mechanical or electrical design office environment, with experience of systems such as PTC CREO, PTC Windchill and AutoCAD.
You will demonstrate the ability to evaluate, configure & install CAD related software, with an understanding of CAD integration with embedded applications beneficial.
You will also have experience of managing databases, along with PDM administration exposure, and evidence of a continuous development and improvement approach.
The ability to troubleshoot and resolve non-routine problems and create written documentation is also required.
This is a challenging role requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the technical knowledge to speak with credibility to a range of technical colleagues and stakeholders.
