eBIC (electron Bio-Imaging Centre) at Diamond Light Source provides scientists with state-of-the-art experimental equipment and expertise in the field of cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM), for single particle analysis and cryo-tomography (cryoET). Funded by the Wellcome Trust with the UK Medical Research and Biotechnology and Biology Research Councils, eBIC provides a cutting edge National Centre for cryo-electron microscopy in the life sciences. Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in South Oxfordshire and integrated within Diamond Light source the centre provides a unique platform to exploit electron, light and synchrotron imaging capabilities through an integrated approach in the life sciences.
An exciting opportunity to join our growing team has arisen. You will form part of our outstanding eBIC and BioImaging group which includes four Titan Krios microscopes all equipped with a Falcon III, Gatan Quantum K2 Summit (to be upgraded to K3) and Volta phase plate, a TalosTM Artica and a SciosTM DualBeamTM, with an additional Titan Krios and a GlaciosTM Cryo-TEM to be installed in 2018. A cryo-super resolution fluorescence microscope is also available for correlative microscopy work. As part of the eBIC scientific team you will contribute towards running our 3D cryoEM facility and participate and contribute to the eBIC research and development programme. You will provide expert guidance, training and advice in areas covering sample preparation and the methods and application of single particle cryoEM, cryoET and image processing, as well as analysis and interpretation of EM maps.
