It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. Our Femtosecond X-ray Experiments (FXE) group is looking for an

Electronics Engineer
The position
  • Planning and design of scientific electrical systems
  • Development, improvement and maintenance of instrument-related electrical components, such as analog and digital high-frequency electronics, control systems for motion, vacuum and data acquisition
  • Work in close collaboration with other expert groups in the company
  • Document the work accomplished and maintain project relevant documentation
  • Support the preparation for scientific experiments
  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Work experience of several years in relevant field
  • Experience with fast signals and/or optical/X-ray detectors an asset
  • Experience with python, Linux and scripting is an asset
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and experience with ECAD tools (EPLAN) is an asset
  • Experience with PLC control systems (Beckhoff) is an asset
  • Ability to work in a targeted, structured, productive and self-responsible manner
  • Efficient comprehension, independent processing of projects, personal initiative
  • work independently and in an organized manner within a highly motivated team
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-lingual, multi-disciplinary team with English as the working language
