MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.

The main responsibilities as a member of the Insertion Devices group, you are responsible in contributing to the design, construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation of insertion devices at MAX IV facility with best quality and standards. This also includes contribution to maintenance, performance improvement and operation of magnetic measurement systems at MAX IV Laboratory which consists of Hall probe system and wire systems.

The tasks include:

  1. Contribute to the design work, construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation of insertion devices for the different accelerators within MAX IV laboratory.
  2. Contribute to the operation and maintenance of the different magnetic measurement system at the Insertion device magnet lab.
  3. Contribute to development and set up of innovative magnetic measurement system(s) for small gap insertion devices and new technology for insertion devices.
  4. To participate in insertion devices and magnetic measurement related conferences and workshops by presentation and publications

MS in Engineering or physics, and five years of engineering experience with accelerator technology with an emphasis on magnet and insertion devices design, testing, and production.

Knowledge in high precision mechanics and motion will be an advantage for insertion devices and magnetic measurement bench construction and assembly.

Supervisory experience on installation, commissioning and testing are strongly desired.

Good communications skills and the ability to interact constructively with physicists, engineers, designers, technicians and procurement personnel are required.
