CONTEXT & JOB DESCRIPTION
The Systems and Communication Group provides the computing resources and services to support the ESRF in its scientific missions. The SC Group consists of four Units: Unix, Windows, Network and the Helpdesk, it currently counts 22 engineers and technicians in the different units.
We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic engineer to help us to build an automated centric infrastructure bringing it up to the highest standards. As we are working and living in a speed-dominated world, we would like to take an ‘Agile’ approach towards SDN Data Center networking and Campus Fabric LAN architectures.
The ESRF’s complex network generates a constant stream of challenges that will require continual innovation with evolving technologies and protocols. As an ESRF Network Engineer, you will define prototype solutions; take charge of the design, implementing solutions by applying the most recent industrial standards. You will be in charge of designing and implementation of the SDN and Fabric network architectures.

EXPECTED PROFILE
- Higher university degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent.(Master or equivalent 300 ECTS diploma)
- Two to eight years of professional experience
- An official Cisco or Extreme Networks certification would be an asset
- Experience with the following technologies: SDN, Fabric, IPv6, VPN, routing (BGP, OSPF), switching, wireless, network security
- Strong knowledge on Linux, programming languages & scripting
