Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. Located at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, we host facilities supporting cutting edge research in all fields of science. Diamond is now actively working on a major upgrade to a diffraction-limited storage ring Diamond-II. This will lead to several existing beamlines to be redesigned or upgraded; and a number of new state-of-the-art beamlines to be designed and built to take advantage of the new high-coherence source properties.

We wish to appoint an Optics Scientist to join our well-established Optics and Metrology Group to work on development and application of X-ray optics simulations based on geometrical and physical optics. The job will include working on several other aspects of X-ray optics including optical design, specifications, procurement and testing of optics for beamlines. There would be opportunity to participate in X-ray optics related research and development projects, and to pursue own research projects in that area.
