ALBA is the Spanish 3-GeV synchrotron radiation facility operated by the Consortium CELLS, which is equally funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades) and the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d’Economia i Coneixement). ALBA is currently operating 8 beamlines, and is expanding its capabilities with the construction of four new beamlines.
Out of the eight beamlines that exploit the X-ray beams, BL22-CLAESS is the beamline dedicated to X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopies. XAS studies are carried out in transmission and fluorescence modes. XES is being implemented in a dedicated spectrometer (CLEAR: http://www.cells.es/en/beamlines/bl22-claess) which is continuous development.
The postdoctoral researcher will join the CLAESS beamline team.
In addition to his/her main tasks: to develop his/her research project in X-ray absorption and/or emission spectroscopy, his/her functions will be to help in the activities of the beamline.
Specific tasks are:
– To participate in the public and industrial users support.
– Beamline upgrade, commissioning and maintenance activities.
PhD in material science, chemistry, physics, or similar disciplines.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in material science, chemistry, physics, or closely related discipline. He/she should also have a sound experience in the use of synchrotron radiation X-ray absorption and/or X-ray emission techniques.
In addition to that, he/she should have adaptability to international and multidisciplinary environment, sense of responsibility and ability to work as a team member as well as independently. Working language is English.
The offered job is a postdoctoral contract based on the Spanish Science Law (article 22). The duration of the contract will be two years with a possible extensions of three additional years (only after positive evaluation of the performances). The contract includes a test period of 6 months.
Yearly gross salary, as of today: 29.450,82.
