At the Institute of Radiooncology – OncoRay scientists (f/m/d) specializing in medicine, physics, biology and IT work together to crucially improve the treatment of cancer by administering radiation therapy that is biologically-personalized and technically-optimized.
As part of the Institute, the Department of Medical Radiation Physics invites applications as PostDoc Biophysical Research.
The position will be available from 1 April 2022. The employment contract is limited to two years, with the possibility of longer-term prospects.
Tasks:
- Planning, setup, conducting and analysis of physics and biology experiments, in particular at the Dresden proton therapy facility
- Collaboration on the project Magnetic Resonance Imaging Integrated Proton Therapy
- Supervision of graduation theses (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
- Teaching within the master program Medical Radiation Sciences, in particular in the radiation protection modules
- Acquisition of third-party funding (independent and contributory)
Requirements:
- PhD degree in Physics or a related discipline
- Excellent knowledge in radiation and medical physics, in particular acceleration, transport, detection and interaction of particle beams with matter
- Very good experimental skills and substantial practical experience in irradiation and dosimetry, preferably with proton beam
- Interest in multidisciplinary and translational research as well as in radiation protection
- Knowledge in radiation protection and radiation biology is a plus
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, goal-oriented and proactive
- Excellent English skills and willingness to work in an international team
