CONTEXT & JOB DESCRIPTION
You will participate in ongoing in-house research programmes, beamline operation, provide support to external users as local contact, and develop your own research programme. The project, supported by the EU Pathfinder iSenseDNA grant, aims at the design, production and characterization of nanotransducers based on the interaction between supercoiled DNA and topoisomerases. The project will require sample preparation, and employ small angle scattering, and various biophysical techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the project. As the ESRF is a leading service facility, the role of providing excellent support to our scientific community will also play a key part in the post-holder’s function: Synchrotron sources provide a key tool for the collection of structural data at different levels of resolution from even the most challenging samples. We thus seek to recruit a postdoc who is able to actively participate in the collaboration of the structural biology group together with the Partnership in for Structural Biology and the Partnership for Soft Condensed Matter. You will also be expected to develop, within a supportive environment, your current research interests in state-of-the-art methods of Structural Biology.
