You will contribute to cutting-edge experiments using the femtosecond laser systems at SwissFEL at the existing hard X-Ray beamline ARAMIS and the new soft-X-Ray beamline ATHOS. In cooperation with a diverse team of scientists, engineers and technicians, you will develop new capabilities for producing and tailoring ultrafast laser pulses for particular experiments. You will pursue independent research in line with the objectives of the facility.
The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Photonics or a related field and should have specific familiarity with amplified femtosecond laser systems. Further, the candidate should have demonstrated experience in developing and using high-power femtosecond lasers for experimental work. Prior experience working at large-scale facilities is desirable, as is experience with integrating femtosecond lasers with X-Ray experiments. Familiarity with a variety of nonlinear wavelength conversion methods (e.g. optical parametric amplification) is also highly valued. Social competence is important in this dynamic team environment. Good language skills in English are essential, knowledge of German is useful.
Our institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture.
