About the Role

We now have an opportunity for a Senior Cyber Security Officer to manage the delivery of Cyber Security, and deliver suitable technical systems, services, policies, and guidance that will maintain the appropriate level of confidentiality, integrity and availability for Diamond’s data and information assets, and protect the company’s delivery of world-class science.

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support in the implementation of a new Diamond Cyber Security Programme, which is designed to combat increasing cyber risks and to address recommendations reported in a recent Security Assessment.
  • Managing and coordinating the design and delivery of Cyber Security training and documentation.
  • Planning for Diamond to meet Government Functional Security standards and/or Cyber Essentials, embedding the legislation within policies and procedures, in order to provide assurance to stakeholders that Diamond is secure.
  • To be a member of the Information Technology Governance Committee, advising on policy / good practice, and implementation of new processes relating to Cyber Security.
  • Maintaining awareness of best practice on Cyber Security issues and to providing advice on the security controls required to meet information governance policies.

About You

You should hold a relevant Degree or demonstrate significant equivalent combination experience.

You will demonstrate experience working in Cyber Security roles and in heterogeneous environments.

You should have good knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Information Security Management practices and frameworks, including ISO 27001:2013.
  • Security aspects of the principles behind the design and operation of networks, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and firewall platforms.
  • Technical security issues and processes, including anti-virus, worms, spyware, intrusion detection, penetration testing, server hardening.
  • Common platforms and technologies such as Linux, Windows, Active Directory
  • Remote access solutions, ideally including SSL based VPNs.
  • Disaster recovery planning process and implementation

You should also demonstrate the ability to manage and provide security awareness training, along with a hands-on style and the able to own and drive issues to resolution.

You will have highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical issues to users and management in a business-oriented non-technical manner.
