Senior Vacuum Technician

The Vacuum Group is responsible for the vacuum systems and vacuum equipment of Diamond Light Source (DLS). We are now seeking a Senior Vacuum Technician to contribute to the assembly, commissioning, installation and maintenance of the DLS vacuum systems. Applicants should have some vacuum experience and preferably also be familiar with the processes and equipment to achieve ultra-high vacuum. As a member of the Vacuum Group you will be working alongside a motivated team with a positive approach to problem solving. You will be required to undertake supervision of small work teams and projects for installation and maintenance. Tasks undertaken are varied and include mechanical assembly of vacuum components and vacuum testing to DLS specifications. The role also encompasses the procurement of vacuum-related equipment, stock inventory management and development and documentation of processes, alongside appropriate risk assessments and method statements to follow a safe system of work. You could be involved with product design reviews, factory acceptance testing and training of other DLS staff.
