About the Role
We now have an opportunity for a Software Engineer to join the Business Applications Group to help develop the User Administration System (UAS). Working as part of a small team, using Agile processes, you will work with people from across Diamond to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet those requirements. You will ensure that these solutions meet quality standards and are fit for purpose. At times you will be developing new capabilities.
We are looking for a web developer with experience in Java development and integrating with databases. Working as part of a small team they will take ownership of development requests and identify the areas of development before implementing changes in a controlled manner. There will be regular contact with scientists and other staff at Diamond to understand their requirements, so good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to understand their needs and be able to translate these into code is essential.
In particular, we are looking for:
- Knowledge of modern object-orientated programming methods and languages principally Java
- Experience of Web Frontend and Middleware development technologies
- Knowledge of code development platforms
- Experience of using databases in application development
- Experience of full cycle application development including unit testing, code repositories and deployment.
