Job description

The job post relates to the project tasks of CALIPSOplus work package n.24 – JRA2 – Demonstrator of a Photon Science Analysis Service (DaaS).  Elettra is one of the six sites acting as demonstrator for the data analysis toolkits (Task 24.4 – Design and implement Remote Data Analysis as a Service portal demonstrator).  The successful candidate as part of a project team will participate in the various system administration and management tasks.


A diploma issued by an industrial or professional institute, preferably in electronics or telecommunication or computer science or a university degree in electronics or telecommunication or information technology or computer science is required.

The successful candidate is expected to possess experience in:

  • Jupyter, including JupyterLab/Notebook;
  • deployment and management of remote connections to graphical sessions in UNIX-like environments;
  • managing medium/large scale systems (at least 3 years of experience)
  • advanced Linux and networking administration;
  • interaction with high capacity data storage distributed infrastructures;
  • virtualisation, containers and orchestration tools (mainly Kubernetes), cloud technologies;

Additional experience with Javascript and work experience in photon science will constitute a preferential asset.
Database administration in distributed installations would be a plus.
Good oral and written communication skills in English is required.
Availability to travel to project meetings abroad or to other partner institutes is expected.

The appointment envisioned is a fixed term contract of a duration of 12 months. The salary will be commensurate with previous experience and qualifications of the candidate.
