Website Elettra Sincrotrone
Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste is an international multidisciplinary research center operated as a user facility, featuring a 2.0/2.4 GeV, third-generation synchrotron light source and a variety of support laboratories. The extremely high quality of the machine and beamlines has set new performance records and has been producing results of great scientific interest. See http://www.elettra.eu for more information. A free-electron laser (FEL) based, fourth generation source – FERMI – is currently under commissioning. See http://www.elettra.eu/FERMI/ for more information.
The European Spallation Source (ESS) will be the most intense neutron source worldwide. The laboratory will be constructed in Lund (Sweden). It is a pan-European infrastructure aimed at hosting a community of about 5000 scientists. On August 31, 2015 the ESS project was established by the European Commission as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium, or ERIC, and is now known as European Spallation Source ERIC. The low energy neutron beams that will be made available will allow new experimental opportunities for real time, in situ, in vivo measurements, including measurements of dynamic events at the nanometric scale. From the technical point of view, the project is based on the production of neutrons by the spallation reaction of protons, produced by a linac, on a rotating tungsten target. Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste, together with INFN and CNR, is one of the three institutions committed to the realization of the Italian contribution for the construction of ESS.
The activities will be carried out in the framework of European Spallation Source (ESS) project, in which Elettra is involved.
The candidate will be part of the team in charge to follow the construction and validation of the high power RF Sources, which are part of Elettra in-kind contribution to ESS. He/she will take part in the follow up of the design, developments, prototyping and construction of the RF Power Stations. He/she will participate in all activities related to measurements, acceptance tests and validation of the single components and of the complete RF stations. The successful candidate will also collaborate to the organization of deployment, installations and test activities on-site. Activities will be performed either at Elettra, at ESS or at the involved suppliers premises.
All activities will be done in close collaboration with RF designers, manufacturers and RF specialists.
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or Physics.
The following technical skills are requested:
· Good competence and knowledge of electronic, electrical engineering and telecommunication principles.
